Mourning
Beloveth 'The Sullen Sulcus'
Mourning Beloveth is yet another band worthy to be added to the
Irish extreme
metal scene. Although they have an obvious My Dying Bride influence, MB
play
their own version of Doom-metal. The first song "The Words that Crawled"
is
what I believe to be their finest one. The spoken clean vocals combined
with
the growls are almost like an act of distress and conflict between the
inner
daemons of the mind. It does not take long to figure out that these guys
are
good musicians who accord importance to each wound played through their
songs. The structure and production is very professional which I think
is
very important in doom-metal music. "It almost looked human"
continues to
fill you with slow beats only to let some kind of metal vocals make a
short
appearance that gives the song a fresh note. If you don’t like the
long
painful and lethargic guitar riffs which sometimes I found to be a little
bit
to extended for me, this album is not for you but if on the other hand
you
like to take the plunge into the doomed suffering, Mourning Beloveth awaits
you.
