Mourning Beloveth - "Dust" This is the doom metal album the world has been eagerly awaiting ever since Candlemass spawned their majestic "Epicus Doomics Metallicus" more than 16 years ago. Many are those who have tried to bear the crown of doom since and some have succeded in doing so with grace. Two of those who have done it best are My Dying Bride and Anathema. Now however comes along another doom squad from the British islands who sweeps the floor with the two just mentioned in my opinion. The Irish quintet Mourning Beloveth delivers with "Dust" a stunning debut which exceeds most albums I've encountered in this genre. They have an original touch, eventhough clearly influenced by My Dying Bride, and a fat sound which is breathtaking at times. "Dust" was originally released by the band themselves before someone finally, Irish label Sentinel records, saw their enormous potential and decided to give it a proper release. I can't understand why this band has been overlooked for so many years as they are purely fucking great - pardon my French. This belongs up there with classics as the before mentioned Candlemass debut, My Dying Brides "Turn Loose the Swans" and Anathema's "Pentecost III". Perhaps even surpassing them all! Superb doom metal with an extraordinary sense for mournful melodies and ledheavy riffs. You gotta hear this! The crown now belongs to Mourning Beloveth, all competition left behind! Can't wait for their second coming, due out late November 2002 on Aftermath records, which could be something out of the ordinary!!!
