Mourning Beloveth - "Dust" I have known the name of this Irish 5 piece band since some time, but never had the chance to check out their music till now. And I must say it was somehow surprising. Totally incomparable to their label mates Abaddon Incarnate though. Fact is these guys play slow and when I say slow I mean slow. 8 songs in nearly 75 minutes should say it all. The album starts out with a song called "The mountains are mine" and I guessed right away that this must be the best track here as it's really supreme Doom Metal with depressive double vocals (Both spoken and sung) and beautiful lyrics. The best thing about this must actually be the vocals, so I was a bit let down when I later on in my listening session discovered that they use a lot of deep death growls too as it kind of sets them a bit back. But okay, I certainly can live with that as the song writing is really good and depressive like real Doom Metal should be. People who like melodic stuff and the debut of Paradise Lost (When they still had balls) and the likes should try this out as I think Mourning Beloveth have a lot to offer to the dark world of twisted music. I think I will listen to it again now and cut my wrists… Tornado Magazine |
