Mourning Beloveth - "Dust"

It has been some time since I have heard Doom Metal like this. Crushing guitars and slow as a tortoise drums wrapped around songs that weigh in at a mammoth nine + minutes. Some may say this sort of thing has had its day, but not me. This is damn fine by anyone’s standards in this day and age. Okay the importance of this style of music may have faded out a while ago, but if it’s good and keeps the listener engrossed in what is happening, which ‘Dust’ does, then why shouldn’t we give it the praise I is entitled to? The whole album clocks in at over 60 minutes, and with only five tracks, its pretty easy to work out the band have the same kinda theme on each of their songs, but when the listener is kept interested with some excellent guitar work, blinding riffs and interesting vocals, you never do tire of the whole thing. Anyone who likes ‘old school’ Doom Metal or who may have an ear for the darker side of things, or indeed for something a bit different from the norm these days, Mourning Beloveth, and in particular ‘Dust’ are the band for you.
