Mourning Beloveth - "Dust" We were surprised by hearing this work which these 5 irish guys of Mourning Beloveth offer us. That was because this is one of the best doom metal albums we have had the pleasure to listen for the last months. It has been a while since we didn't run across an album as good as "Dust" is. The atmosphere created by Mourning Beloveth is full of that old doom metal style which still hasn't been forgotten by its loyal followers who now feel sorry for a few surprises which recently arose within this style. You will surely relate Mourning Beloveth music with the ones of the old Anathema and My Dying Bride. Besides, this guys have achieved to capture the essence of that english doom metal we mean by recording and mixing this album at the legendary Academy Studios (precisely, the My Dying Bride and Anathema second home) with the help of Mags, who is well known for his good work. The best on this album is how depression, isolation, darkness and sadness are displayed, and these states and feelings are reflected both in music and lyrics, a work that has been accomplished very well. The guitars seem to pass away with every riff, the drums are subtly relentless and finally, the agonizing and dramatic vocals of Darren will lead you into a tragic ending. The album has a lenght over 60 minutes and presents the following songs : "The Mountains are Mine", "In Mourning my Days", "Autumnal Fires", "Dust" and "All Hope is Pleading". Five pieces which despite being a little too long, you will wish them never to end. Besides, in this production, you will also find a hidden instrumental theme at the end. This is a highly recommended album, so if you're on the brink of ending your life, then "Dust" would fit perfectly as background song before your departure... Prelude to Darkness - Webzine
