Mourning Beloveth 'A Murderous Circus'

Shapeless italy 8/10

The photograph, in a white and black one vanished and dark, you withdraw some ruins. Over it is it is sovraimpresso the mezzobusto of a blond little girl from the wicked eyes. To its neck it hangs a gross cross. Two white ali of angelo explained at its shoulders. This is the covered one of "TO Murderous Circle", the third album of the irish Mourning Beloveth. The image quite represents the spirit of the restrained music in the CD. A grey music, melancholy, totally despaired. It does not exist in fact a road of exit, in the conceptual universe of the Mourning Beloveth, to the uselessness of the life. For how much the man am forced to escape its infamous destiny across "distractions" what drugs, alcohol and exceeded of varied type, its condition does not change. It is born to die. The life is an absurd one teased that begins in the nothing to end in the nothing. Darren (voice), Brian (guitar), Adrian (low), Frank (guitar, voice) and Tim (battery) succeed to translate in music this resignation. The quintet had given test of this its capacity already in occasion of the previous album "Dust"
(2002 - reviewed on Shapeless). With "TO Murderous Circle", however, the Mourning Beloveth have finished a determined step in before. The main lack of "Dust" was in fact a sound ecessively monolitico. That not the new album is lighter but the compositions indicate a liveliness creativa totally news. This is in phase of composition that in the arrangiamento. The five present songs in the edition that I find to review myself (the edition I dislocate contains two tracks bonus) are all valid and offies of emotion. Ricordiamoci always that it is discussed of doom/oppressive death and not of a musical proposal suitable to all of the palates. The CD is in fact long and lacking whatever commercial appeal. But it is actual in this the glamour of the Mourning Beloveth. Their style is suffocating but to the same time essential. It is not lost in resonant decostruzioni or in useless repetitions and getting tired. The hard song more of twelve minutes? OK... if however we experienced to shorten it would have been heard it immediately that the composition is maimed. Although the length, every song has its
balance. I deserve of a time expanded to the pang (safe in the last one "...Yet Everything" where è relatively more sent) that does not lose a blow, of the riff drained and of a capable voice of to evoke the most hidden pains. Darren, in fact, is very improved with respect to the past. Its excellent growling in fact is supported from you voice cleaned or crude but however melodic. Besides the same arrangiamenti grant more space to the acoustic parts (" Elemental Nauseates", "Nothing (The March Of Death)") and the rhythmic section sometimes disappears. The Mourning Beloveth know now to treat the matter of the doom with wisdom and criterion. The will of to explore new territories is present but the spirit of the band tight is anchored to the rents of the type. For example the opener "The Apocalypse Machine" and "The Crashing Wave" are excellent examples of doom/traditional death. Who
it loves this music, will not be able that to appreciate these two tests. To parer mine, however, the better track of the album is "Nothing (The March Of Death)". It is discussed of a long musical journey it is acoustic than electric. I adore specially the desolate central section: under the harbors notes hears itself the breath of the wind. In the final version of the song it is heard also a bell. Sepulchral: here the just adjective to describe this small masterpiece! "To Murderous Circle" is a solid album and noteworthy. It is not certainly to listen to all of a breath however every its track is godibile from top to fund. I advise the purchase of this CD because the Mourning Beloveth deserve the support of everything fascinated him some doom. Too groups in fact are challenging the type with tedious disks or of doubtful value. These irish however they carry with pride and dignity the
flag of the blackest despair.
