- Present the band, his history... Hello Silvere your questions are being answered by Tim (drums), no need for apologies for your english, it is fine. The band was formed around the middle of 1994 when myself and a bassist called Keith Parker found ourselves without a band after the break up of our previous outfit Traumatized which was a more mid-paced death metal band. After a few months of searching we recruited a guitarist Frank and proceeded to write some songs and rehearse for gigs. After one gig as a three piece with Keith on bass/vocals we decided to recruit a vocalist. We approached Darrem, whom I had been in a band with previously by the name of Pathos, of course Darren fitted in perfectly as you can hear. After a while rehearsal room problems and the distance between band members lead to the departure of Keith. Brian was recruited on bass after a time which could be described as "intense frustration". Some guitar players came and went but the line up of four,Frank,Darren,Brian and Tim went on to record the debut demo in 1996 with Adrian as engineer. After this demo Adrian joined on bass and Brian moved to guitar. Since then the line up has been Darren;Vocals Frank;guitar +vocals Brian;Guitar Adrian;bass Tim;Drums - Can you explain the name of the band ? The name Mourning Beloveth came from original member Keith Parker,he had this name even before we formed the band.I never really asked him to explain his reasons for the name.I can only suppose he wanted to comvey a message of sorrow, loss and despair. When Keith eventually left the band I was in favour of a name change but the others were against it. - Can you explain the significane of the artwork (it was modified for the new edtion why ?) The cover artwork for the Dust album created by Sofia Lopez we feel is very indicative of the mood of the album showing as it does a rather forlorn figure with head bowed in almost total darkness and despair with the only light (and hope) coming in through the small barred window in the corner with flecks of dust visible in the shafts of light. I hope that is a satisfactory answer. - In which state of mind had you composed Dust ? The state of mind in which Dust was composed is not easy to pin down. As I am the drummer I did not actually compose any of the music or write any lyrics so I can't really say. A range of emotions and states of mind are needed to compose goood music which really moves the listener. I hope this answer is ok also? - How is held the process of composition in the band ? As I stated in the above answer I do not compose any music or lyrics. The lyrics are handled exclusively by Darren and as he is the vocalist I think this is the only way.As for the music the majority comes from Frank, Brian and Adrian writing seperately with some riffs coming from a collaboration of the three. - What inspires your lyrics, which topics approach ? Some literary influences ? Darrens lyrics comes from his experiences and views on things. Even though he reads quite a lot I don't think there is any obvious outside influence on his lyrics, maybe you can help here as I might be missing something??! - The next album will be in the same style ? Will you integrate other instruments, or Celtic musical elements ? The new album is already recorded and ready for release. I can safely say it is in the same vein as the previous album. There are no other instruments or celtic musical elements just maybe the fact that we are descended from the celts. Would that count as a celtic musical element in your opinion? hehe - Why have you added to 'Dust' an unmixed song from forthcoming CD 'The Sullen Sulcus' ? The song "It Almost Looked Human" from the forthcoming album is unmastered, not unmixed. We added this as a bonus track for the re-release to whet the appetite of everyone waiting for the album, also to show them the misery is unrelenting. - You were not tempted to re-record for the occasion Forever Lost Emeralds ? The version of "Forever Lost Emeralds" is the original demo recording, remastered by Staurt Anstis. We decided to leave it in its original form to show the progression of the band from demo to album 1 and then with the new song to album two. As this is the first time our music will be widely released tyhrough Sentinel Records in Ireland we thought it a good oppourtunity. It also helps to show the mercurial production/engineering talents of the mighty Mags as opposed to the demo engineer hehe. - How would you define the doom ? How would I define doom? This is a rather tough one. There are alot of differnet styles which people refer to as doom, to me the ultimate Doom band will always be the Godly Candlemass. Our band and several others are ina more doom/death vein. - How does that occur for you in Ireland, can you tell us some words about the metal and doom metal scene there ? The Metal scene in Ireland has alot of potential with very good abnds such as Primordial,Geasa,Mael Mordha,Cruachan,Abaddon Incarnate to name but a few,all recording and gigging regularly. There are also more gigs than ever by foreign bands thanks to the efforts of Emerald Promotions who deal with the finest of international bands. As for gigs by Irish bands these are regular also except that crowd numbers are drastically lower as I suppose is the same in every other country where 10.000 people will go to watch Metallica and say 300 to see Nile and between 30-120 for local bands. - Which are your influences, wich bands, artists are you listening ? As I mentioned above I really enjoy listening to the mighty Candlemass and in fact myself and Darren have just returned fromSweden from seeing them, it was quite amazing. Other band s I listen to alot are Iron Maiden,Iced Earth,Nevermore,MDB,In The Woods,Dissection,At The Gates,Dark Tranquillity,Early In Flames,Early Anathema,Bathory,Slayer,Kreator,Desaster,Destruction,Primordial,Destroyer 666,Samael,Mercyful Fate to name but a few. The rest of the band are in to alot of the above with a few exceptions of course.Darren is inot alot of underground doom as is Adrian, I myself don't like this stuff such as Thergothon,Skepticism,Unholy etc.Adrian also is a huge fan of U" for some izarre reason. The rest of us can't understand this. - You prepare a tour next year, can we hope to see you play in France (pleeease !!!) Regarding a tour for next year, there are plans afoot to topur Europe with the mighty Morgion (US) who were signed to Relapse until recently and a band from the UK called The Prophecy, it will be called The Doomination of Europe. It will be from Feb 7 to 22, startin in Dublin, two gigs in the UK and then France on Feb 10, so watch out. Keep an eye to our website www.mourningbeloveth.com - Last words, message for the fans... Thank you Silvere for the interview, your questions were a pleasure to answer. The best of luck with Metal Chroniques. Hope to see you all on the February tour and remember beer will always be stronger than you Thanks !!! by Silvère
